Why is regional accreditation important?

Regional accreditation is the most demanding standard for institutions of higher learning today. Marylhurst University carries regional accreditation from the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU) and specialized business program accreditation from the International Assembly for Collegiate Business Education (IACBE). Students who wish to transfer credits earned at nationally accredited schools to a regionally accredited school may unfortunately learn those credits aren’t recognized.

Do I earn the same degree that traditional students earn?

Yes, Marylhurst University awards the same regionally accredited degree whether you earn it on-campus or online.

How long will it take to earn my Bachelor of Science in Business Management?

The Bachelor of Science in Business Management is a 90 quarter credit hour program that students can complete is just over two years. You also need 90 lower division quarter credits (freshman and sophomore level classes) which can be received through: an Associates degree, PLA, CLEP, at a local community college, or other Marylhurst courses. The only classes required within the lower divisional 90 credits are: 1 College level Math, 1 College level English, and 2 College level Science classes. A total of 180 quarter credit hours need to be completed to graduate.

What if I can’t keep up?

I've previously taken undergraduate courses. Can those courses be transferred in?

Undergraduate students with a minimum of 50 quarter credit hours from an accredited institution satisfy the admission requirements to enter the program. Please contact an enrollment advisor for details.

I have a demanding career and personal life and cannot attend classes each week. Is this program for me?

You bet. You can study on the go or in your home. You never need to visit the campus and the Marylhurst course site is accessible anywhere you have an Internet connection. So you can tailor your studies to your busy schedule.

How many hours per week will I need to study?

Of course, this is indivdually based. On an average, 15-20 hours per week for the bachelor’s degree program. For the master’s degree program an average of 20-25 hours per week.

How many credits do I need in order to complete my undergraduate degree?

180 total quarter credits are required. Of those 180, 90 are lower division and 90 are upper division. Students are able to continuously consult with their Program Manager regarding their academic progress thoughout their time in the program.
