As more individuals create accounts on social media websites, many companies are recognizing how useful Facebook and Twitter can be to their overall business strategies.
For instance, Facebook alone has more than 750 million active users, according to the social media website's press room. American Express is the latest company to utilize the popular networking platform in an attempt to increase its customer relations and grow business.
The credit card company recently announced the launch of its new Facebook application, Link, Like, Love. Through this program, American Express cardmembers will gain access to special deals and experiences that are based on the likes, interests and social connections that appear on these individuals' Facebook pages.
American Express customers will be able to choose their favorite deals when they link their cards to the Facebook application.
"As we continue to transform our business in the digital space, we're focused on three key areas: value, relevance and user experience, for both cardmembers and merchants," said Ed Gilligan, the vice chairman of American Express. "Because of our unique business model – our closed loop – we're able to deliver on all three in a way that is unprecedented."
