This course is designed to help students obtain an understanding the basic concepts of economics. Students will understand the foundational concepts of microeconomics, including scarcity, ownership and markets. The focus of the class will be on having students apply these ideas to their personal decision making and professional life. In addition, students will learn the macroeconomics concepts of GDP, unemployment, inflation and interest rates and how to research these variables and how to use forecasts to understand the application to their personal and professional life. Finally, students will learn some of the basic concepts of international economics, including international trade and exchange rates.
