Why is regional accreditation important?
Regional accreditation is the most demanding standard for institutions of higher learning today. Marylhurst University carries regional accreditation from the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU) and specialized business program accreditation from the International Assembly for Collegiate Business Education (IACBE). Students who wish to transfer credits earned at nationally accredited schools to a regionally accredited school may unfortunately learn those credits aren't recognized.
What characteristics mark a quality distance learning program?
Since 1997 Marylhurst has been a pioneer with its nationally acclaimed distance learning program. We deliver a great online learning experience that you just can't beat. Our most important attributes are our low student attrition rate, small class sizes (ours average 20 classmates), regular interaction with professors and peers, and comprehensive support from admission to graduation. Unlike correspondence courses, Marylhurst University online learning programs are not self-paced or independent study. They meld our tradition of face-to-face instruction excellence with the convenience and interactivity of virtual learning.
I don’t know my way around a PC. Can I do this?
Yes. We realize that not all students are computer whizzes. Consequently, Marylhurst provides technical support for its students. You can speak to a computer technology person anytime seven days a week about computer issues.
Do I earn the same degree that traditional students earn?
Yes, Marylhurst University awards the same regionally accredited degree whether you earn it on-campus or online.
How long will it take to earn my Master of Business Administration?
The MBA curriculum is 12 courses (48 quarter credits) and can be completed in as little as 18 months. Upon admission, MBA students can request transfer of up to eight quarter-credits from an accredited college or university.
Unlikely with the special support you enjoy with our small learning communities and dedicated faculty. Our instructors are working professionals who understand your demanding lifestyle and are dedicated to your success and students typically find this dual-support system helps them stay on track.
I've previously taken graduate courses. Can those courses be transferred in?
Complete your degree today by transferring credits you previously earned at other institutions of higher learning. Marylhurst University considers credits in courses with at least a "B" (3.00) from an accredited college or university earned within five years of admission for transfer. Students must provide an official transcript of the graduate credits. Some students may need to submit a course syllabus to determine transfer eligibility.
Do I need to take the GMAT for admission into the MBA program?
GMAT scores are one way a student can qualify for admission into the MBA program, but it’s not the only way. Students may also qualify for MBA admission with five years of professional experience or an overall GPA of 3.0.
