MBA – Nonprofit Management

An MBA Personalized for Your Interests
There are many advantages to obtaining your online MBA from Marylhurst University. One of the unique educational options that Marylhurst offers, which most other schools do not, is the ability to customize your studies with an elective MBA concentration.

The Business Behind Supporting a Cause
For most nonprofit businesses success isn’t necessarily determined by the bottom line. Successful business in the nonprofit sector is determined by helping others, accomplishing goals, and raising enough money to fund research or effectively promote a cause.

Don’t let the name fool you; a nonprofit business still needs to make money. Nonprofits rely on skilled business people and leaders to make sure that they raise sufficient capital, comply with governmental rules and regulations, and handle the money they receive responsibility.

The Nonprofit Management MBA takes an in-depth look at America’s rapidly growing nonprofit sector. Explore the role of the nonprofit business in the United States and its growing influence around the world through case studies and practical exercises. Learn what it takes to be a leader in the nonprofit sector, how to market successfully within the financial and ethical grounds of the nonprofit organization, and what it means to create and run a successful nonprofit business.

Other concentrations include MBA in General Management, MBA in Marketing, MBA in Healthcare Management, MBA in Real Estate Studies, and MBA in Finance.

What is the longest possible period over which I can spread the MBA in Non-Profit Mgmt? What would the minimum course load I can take at a time? and what is the cost per year going this slowest route? [My study needs to integrate with my full-time job currently managing a non-profit.]

Can you list the courses I would take for the MBA in Non-Profit and is there a specific order I must take them in?

  2. Kelly Hagerty says:

    Hello Melanie,

I apologize for not responding sooner. Once the program is started, one would have 5 years to complete. The program is designed as an 18 month program, and most students do take this path. The program is based upon a 2 class per quarter system, with the classes taken consecutively, not concurrently. It is designed with the working professional in mind, as a large majority of our MBA students do work full time. Hence you would never be taking more than one class at a time, and should be able to fit it into a busy schedule. Usually, one would take 8 classes a year if following the recommended path, but could possibly take as little a 3 per year and still graduate within the 5 year time frame. There are a total of 12 classes, and the current tuition is approximately $2100 per class.

Your inquiry about course content may be better saved for a conversation as you will most likely have several follow-up questions during the discussion. If you would like to contact me, my name is Kelly, and I can be reached at 866-278-3965 x373. I look forward to answering all of your questions!

    Kelly

Do you offer scholarships for students? If I can please receive financial and scholarship information. Is there a payment plan or does it have to be paid up front? I have student loans for previous education, need to get around having more. What is the total cost for this program in order to receive the degrees?

  4. Edward Hulse says:

    Hi Jennifer,

Marylhurst does not currently offer a scholarship, but there are several financial aid options available to you. We’ve put the financial aid and tuition information in the relevant sections: sustainability, business, and real estate. Since you appear to be interested in the MBA in Nonprofit Management, please visit Business Degrees Financial Aid.

Students can pay by the class or use financial aid to cover tuition and fees. You can find the tuition information here: Business Degrees Tuition.

I hope this information helps. If you have any additional questions, I can be reached at 866-278-3965 x603.

Are all the classes on-line? I am also interested on the whole economic, accounting side of non-profits… Would that be covered in theses courses? Is it possible to do if I don’t have a business background?
