MBA Real Estate Online: Program Objectives

Students completing Marylhurst University’s online Master of Business Administration degree in Real Estate, with a choice of three concentrations: Finance, Management or Development, will be able to:

  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of current trends and interrelations in key business areas, including accounting, finance, law, organizational behavior, marketing, statistics, and strategy.
  • Demonstrate critical thinking, quantitative analysis, writing, presentation, and collaboration skills appropriate for business leadership and graduate-level coursework.
  • Develop and apply an ethical framework to executive decision-making and organizational leadership.
  • Analyze the domestic and global business environments, including their economic, legal, cultural, and ethical contexts.
  • Understand emerging business concepts, information technology, and management trends.
  • Apply and integrate course knowledge, business skills, and work experience in a capstone project.
  • Analyze the current real estate market and describe the benefits and detriments of owning and leasing real property.
  • Understand various forms and concepts surrounding commercial and residential mortgages (negotiations, secondary mortgage markets, valuation of tranches), understand the use and necessity of appraisals, asset management, and property management.
  • Incorporate the concepts of real estate valuation to perform the net present value and internal rate of return calculations used to analyze various types of real estate contracts (purchase, lease, clauses, an negotiation)
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the process and mechanics of a real estate transaction.
  • Examine and select resources to obtain commercial real estate data.
  • Assess the impact of economics, demographics, dynamics, market trends, and individuals on commercial real estate value.
  • Apply critical thinking, quantitative analysis, writing, and presentation skills to a commercial real estate property transaction project.
