Green company brings jobs to California

Automotive news of late has focused on the disaster in Japan, and the ways in which it is impacting car manufacturing around the world. However, there have also been positive developments in the electric vehicle industry, which may be of interest to Green MBA degree seekers.

Green Automotive Company Corporation recently hosted an event at StarPoint USA's distribution center in Compton, California, where the latest shipment of electric vehicles were showcased.

The event provided an opportunity for officials from Compton and representatives of the City of Los Angeles Community Development Department to drive the vehicles.

Those in attendance had the chance to discuss the benefits of having Green Automotive's main vehicle and parts distribution facility in Compton. The corporation is expected to generate 300 new jobs at this location and 100 positions in other parts of the U.S.

Motown recording artist and company spokesperson Smokey Robinson will also appear in a promotional video to promote the use of environmentally friendly vehicles.

"Smokey Robinson is genuinely excited about Green Automotive because he understands this electric car can help reduce our dependence on foreign oil, create jobs in the community and leave our children with a much better environment," said Steve Wells, vice president of product development at the company.
