Individuals who wish to pursue a green MBA may wonder how many companies share their environmentally conscious outlook on business. The Panasonic Corporation of North America (PCNA) is the most recent organization to announce long-term sustainability goals.
According to Joseph M. Taylor, chairman and CEO of PCNA, the goal is to become the top green innovation company in the electronics industry by 2018.
In a declaration, PCNA pledged to aggressively pursue eco-innovation through its products and business practices.
The goals PCNA has established for itself include doubling sales for products that yield a more sustainable lifestyle. This, in turn, will contribute to the reduction of CO2 emissions by 8,000,000 tons by 2013. The company also hopes to have provided environmental educational outreach to at least 500,000 students in the same time frame.
PCNA will also expand their national recycling program to 1,600 sites and reduce CO2 emissions from its North American headquarters operations by 45 percent by 2013.
"As a global leader in the electronic industry, it is our duty to contribute clearly and publicly to an environmentally sustainable future," Taylor said.
Results from a survey that was conducted by Mintel indicated that 35 percent of American consumers are willing to pay more for environmentally friendly products.
