How many credits do you need to qualify for the bachelor’s program?

To gain acceptance into the bachelor’s program, prospective students must have a minimum of 50 quarter hours (35 semester hours). The Marylhurst bachelor’s degrees are completion programs.

How long does the online program take to complete?

  • The Bachelor of Science in Business Management consists of 18 upper-division classes. Each quarter is composed of two five-week courses, to be taken one at a time, allowing students to complete upper-division coursework in as few as 21 months. Each student is required to have a total of 180 quarter hours to graduate. Students have up to seven years to complete the degree.
  • The master’s program consists of 13 courses and can be completed in as few as 21 months, but students with a business background may complete the program in as few as 18 months. Students have up to five years to complete the degree.

Why is regional accreditation important?

Regional accreditation is the most demanding standard for institutions of higher learning today. Marylhurst University carries regional accreditation from the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU). Because credits earned at a nationally accredited school may not be transferable to a regionally accredited school, it is wise to choose a university with regional accreditation. Additionally, the Bachelor of Science in Business Management is accredited by the International Assembly for Collegiate Business Education (IACBE).

I have previously taken graduate courses. Can those credits be transferred?

At the undergraduate level, Marylhurst University will accept up to 110 transferable credit hours. Transfer credits must be at least a C (2.00) grade from a regionally accredited college or university.

At the graduate level, Marylhurst University considers up to eight transfer credits in courses with at least a B (3.00) from a regionally accredited college or university earned within five years of admission. Students must provide an official transcript of the graduate credits. Some students may need to submit a course syllabus to determine transfer eligibility.

What characteristics mark a quality distance learning program?

Since 1997 Marylhurst has been a pioneer in distance learning, earning national acclaim for its programs, which deliver an exceptional online learning experience. Our most important attributes are our low student attrition rate, small class size (ours averages 20 classmates), regular interaction with professors and peers, and comprehensive support from admission to graduation. Unlike correspondence courses, Marylhurst University online learning programs are not self-paced or independent study. They meld our tradition of face-to-face instruction excellence with the convenience and interactivity of virtual learning.

Will I be able to keep up?

Most likely you will, given the special support you receive from our small learning communities and dedicated faculty. Our instructors are working professionals who understand your demanding lifestyle and are dedicated to your success; students typically find this support system helps them stay on track.

Do I need to take the GMAT for admission into the MBA program?

While GMAT scores do matter, we believe that other factors, such as grades and practical experience, are just as important to the evaluation process. That’s why the GMAT is not required of our applicants. Watch this 2 minute video from the Acting Dean share the Marylhurst admissions process.

Online degrees vs. campus-based degrees: Will my diploma read “online”?

Whether you attend classes on our beautiful campus nestled along the bank of the majestic Willamette River near Portland, Oregon or matriculate on another continent, you earn the same degree when you graduate. Because the educational product is comparable and the accomplishment is similar, we do not distinguish between the two delivery methods on the diploma.

How can I be sure this online program is right for me?
